It was great seeing a classic updated like that. It seemed to me that there was no problem as long as they released it free. But I'm pretty sure most if not all the graphic elements for Fallout 1 exist already in New Vegas (with possible exception of the master.) Also, what are the legal issues with that? would one have to get permission? A few years ago a small team did a Kings Quest remake using the AGS engine, as far as I know, without sierra's blessing, even going so far as to get the original voice artist to reprise his role. Fallout 2 is big and I imagine it would be a tricky job.
and I was fantasising how cool it would be if someone did a Fallout remake in the gamebryo engine. The reason I ask is because playing New Vegas had a much more Fallout 1/2 flavour for me than F3 did. I'm wondering if the difference is just scale? Is knowledge of the Geck software adequate? or do you need other skills? Having seen Nehrim for Oblivion, I'm wondering what a Total Conversion entails? obviosly it's a massive job compared to just creating a mod.
