EU4 is being a remote king, ruling from a palace, and the people are quite secondary to the fate of the nations. But a bigger part is because it feels so much more like a story unfolding. Part of that is because it's been out longer, and has had some major rebalancing done and some great awesome expansions added that open up the game even further. I enjoy EU4 a lot, but CK2 is in my opinion the better game by far. They use similar mechanics for moving troops around, but beyond that they're very much two different games. I'm really enjoying it, though reading this thread often makes me think I picked the wrong game! I'm new to Paradox games so very recently took the plunge and bought EU4.
